Local Government Association National Procurement Strategy for Local Government in England

Councillors must be equipped with the necessary skills and value of good procurement and commercial advice. Councillor engagement needs to be supported through training, good procurement advice and reporting arrangements. When councillors are fully engaged, the quality of decision-making is better and oversight and accountability are improved. The toolkit has been developed to support delivery of the National Procurement Strategy for Local Government in England 2018. It aims to help councils, and groups of councils, to set objectives in relation to the maturity levels in each of the key areas of the strategy.
