Circular Economy in Cities is conceptualized as a continuous cycle of value preservation and resource optimization. More than one-half of the world’s population lives in cities, a figure that is forecast to rise to 70% by 2050. Cities are engines of economic growth generating approximately 85% of global GDP. Cities can play a pivotal role in creating an enabling environment through regulations and incentives. The transition to a circular economy can only be achieved when all stakeholders – individuals, the private sector, government and civil society – collaborate.
