  5. National Audit Office Compass Contracts for Provision of Accommodation for Asylum Seekers
The Home Office provides accommodation for asylum seekers and their families while their cases are being processed. The cost of providing this accommodation in 2011-12 was £150 million. In March 2012, the Department signed six new contracts for the provision of these services. The contracts became fully operational in all areas by January 2013 following a transition period. The National Audit Office received correspondence from individuals and MPs, with concerns over the operation of the new contracts. This report sets out the results of our investigation into these concerns.
