On 10 December 2018, the world celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) The UN Global Compact is calling on businesses to adopt a principles-based approach that places human rights at the centre of their strategy. Despite important progress, there is still a long way to go before respect for human rights is truly universal. Despite progress, we are far from achieving freedom from slavery and servitude with 40 million people still in modern slavery around the world, and it will take another 217 years to close the economic gender gap.
