Global aviation emissions have increased by 35% in 5 years -70% faster than anticipated by UN agency ICAO. Oil and natural gas use is increasing rapidly (1.4% and 2% per annum) Building new fossil-based infrastructure today locks the world into further “committed emissions” for many decades to come. Social systems could pass a threshold – so-called social tipping points – which changes rapidly accelerate.
