In 2021, economic losses from climate and weather-related disasters totalled an estimated $329 billion, the third costliest in history. Water’s intrinsic link to energy and carbon can be a useful lever in net-zero strategies. This paper shines a spotlight on opportunities and highlights examples of companies taking action. The hope is to inspire a broader set of leaders to take action and create a groundswell movement of even bolder ideas in the lead up to the UN Water Conference – the first in over 40 years – in March 2023.
