  5. Ocean Nexus Equity and Marine Plastic Report 2022 – Towards an Equitable Approach to Marine Plastic Pollution

Nearly 14 million tons of plastics end up in the ocean each year, making up approximately 85% of marine debris. Plastic has no place in the future of our oceans. This report was compiled by a team of multidisciplinary scholars worldwide who see marine plastic pollution as an ocean equity issue. The ocean is a common asset of mankind. It is inextricably interconnected with human life and culture. It is our duty to protect and keep the ocean healthy for the next generation. We are extremely grateful to the University of Washington and EarthLab for believing in this project and its boundless possibilities.
