  5. Measuring and Mitigating GHGs: Coffee

The relative GHG emissions of producing the same product may differ drastically depending on how and where it is grown. There are millions of farms globally, each using a unique set of practices to cultivate their products in the local climate and soil. Emissions from processing range from 0.3 to up to 14.7, with an average of 5.5 kgCO 2 e/kg RC. The main contributors to on-farm emissions are embedded emissions in fertilizer and nitrous oxide emissions from fertilizer and residue.
