  5. Global Action Plan – Air Pollution – The Next Business Challenge

Air pollution is a global public health emergency according to the World Health Organization. Seven million people die every year from exposure to polluted air. Air pollution shortens lifespans and exacerbates chronic diseases. UK would benefit from a boost from a £6 billion boost if air pollution levels were reduced to meet WHO guideline levels. Cleaner air is vital for saving lives, improving health, and respecting human rights, says Dr. David Boyd, UN Special Rapporteur on human rights and the environment.
