About the role

As Contracts Supervisor for Passive Fire Protection in the UK, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the successful execution of passive fire protection projects.

The Contracts Supervisor will work closely with the Contracts Manager and project teams to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, in compliance with FIRAS requirements and in line with current fire safety regulations and industry standards.

This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, able to read and understand manufacturers details and specifications, understand Compartment drawings and the ability to manage operatives including subcontractors and other resources effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Coordination:
    • Assist the Contracts Manager and Office team in planning and scheduling passive fire protection projects.
    • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials and resources.
    • Monitor project progress and address any issues or deviations from the project plan.
       
  2. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure that all passive fire protection installations comply with relevant UK fire safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
    • Implement quality control measures to maintain the highest standard of workmanship in passive fire protection systems.
    • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to identify and resolve any non-compliance issues.
       
  3. Subcontractor Management:
    • Supervise and manage subcontractors involved in passive fire protection projects.
    • Review subcontractor performance and provide feedback to the Contracts Manager.
    • Address any concerns or disputes with subcontractors and take appropriate actions to resolve them.
       
  4. Health and Safety:
    • Promote and enforce strict adherence to health and safety protocols on project sites working closely with the compliance team.
    • Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
       
  5. Material and Resource Management:
    • Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment needed for passive fire protection projects.
    • Monitor resource allocation and utilization to optimize project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
    • Value engineer details and applications on site, liaise with project teams for use of specified materials.
       
  6. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare regular progress reports for the Contracts Manager and project stakeholders.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and other relevant records.
    • Ensure all works are recorded on the specified app for the project.
       
  7. Stakeholder Communication:
    • Act as a liaison between project teams, clients, and subcontractors, facilitating clear communication and resolving any issues that arise during project execution.
       
  8. Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend strategies to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Stay updated on industry best practices and new developments in passive fire protection.
       

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Minimum Level NVQ level 2 In passive fire protection.
  • SSSTS
  • CSCS Card
  • Must be FIRAS, IFC or equivalent assessed and understand the audit process.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or coordination role within the passive fire protection industry.
  • Familiarity with UK fire safety regulations (Approved document B), and industry standards related to passive fire protection.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using project management tools, software, and the Microsoft Office suite.
